This afternoon I was working on a piece; getting it ready to paint one of my favorite colors. I noticed the veneering had started separating from the piece.
Depending on the level of separation, removing the veneering can go pretty quickly, or it can be a pain. If you’re stuck and can’t get the old veneering off, try this technique – it’s quick and easy. Leave a comment to let me know how it went for you, or if you have a different solution to the problem!
So I grabbed my handy dandy water spray bottle and scraper.
I sprayed the veneering liberally. I waited a minute or two and then grabbed my scraper.
Most came off very easily. The tough spot just need a little more soaking time and I need just a little more patience.
The water simply dampens the old glue causing it to separate.
Carefully pull and scrape and voila!!!!
Now all that’s left is to clean up the mess.
